Our duty to the future is to be accurate about the past

1/  The Christchurch History Society has film copies of most of the weekly editions of the Christchurch Times newspapers that began publication in 1855. It continued through to 1983, except for a break from 1918 to 1925. Film copies do not record details before 1858.     2/  The Society has also created a searchable index of a lot of the data pertaining to Christchurch and the Local Hamlets. The index covers names, sports, businesses, churches, medical, education, workhouse. Using this index could save you much time in your research. As of 2016, the index covers the years 1855 to 1936.     3/  The Society also has bound years of the Christchurch Times newspaper.  CHS017243 refers to these.
