Letter to Council about smells

DESCRIPTION OF RECORD:

Miscellaneous photographs, parcel 3. Photo received with a letter from Charles Hudson of Harbour View, Princes Avenue, Christchurch, written to H. Druitt on 4.May 1916. Re petition sent to Council about smells arising from house refuse and noise from engines at Borough of Christchurch Air Compressing Station in Whitehall. Photo shows a flooded field in front of the pumping station, with sewage flowing from a manhole - 50 yards from Princess Avenue. (Kelly's 1915-1916 Directory lists Charles Hudson, Tea Harbour View, Princess Avenue)
