DESCRIPTION OF RECORD:

Allen White collection. The Norman Constables House ruins, elevated view from Castle Street looking towards the Priory. This photograph used in Allen Whites book on Castle Street, page 36. Description says: Castle Hall, attributed to Richard de Redvers, Earl of Devon, died 1162. Saved from destruction in 18th C. by Rev William Jackson, vicar & Mayor of Borough 1778. Probable residence of 7 Kings of England. Edward 1, 8 visits, Edward 11, Edwards 111, Henry V11, Henry V111, Edward V1.
