DESCRIPTION OF RECORD:

Photo of Chewton at the turn of the century. Scene shows a horse drawn carriage with 2 passengers, crossing a ford in a wooded valley, following behind is another horse & cart. This photographgraph has been used in Allen Whites book 'The Chain Makers' 14, (reprinted in 2000), caption reads: 'Chewton at the turn of the century'. See also page 21 for reference to Chewton as a place for manufacturing fusee chains.
