Sophie Daws originated from a poor fishermans family on the Isle of Wight, she married Baron de Feucheres in 1818. Sophie is alleged to have murdered her the Duc de Bourbon in 1830 (acquitted), she purchased Bure Homage from Lord Stuart of Rothesay soon after and redesigned the house in the French style with Corinthian columns. She died in London in 1840 aged 50.
