The Christchurch History Society is totally volunteer based and only exists due the dedication of its Members and the Society is extremely appreciative of all donations whenever they are received


Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the history of Christchurch and its Environs.   The year runs from 1st September to 31st August in the following year, but applications for the next year are accepted from 1st June.     The current annual subscription is £15 for single Membership, £20 for joint Membership at the same address.      For Members that elect to receive their quarterly Journal electronically by means of a downloadable document from the Members’ Page on the Website, there is a £2 reduction in Subscription.       For Members that elect to receive communications by means of a downloadable document from the Members’ Page on the Website, there is a further £2 reduction in Subscription.       Full details are shown on the Membership Form below

Meeting costs are :- Members £2.00; Visitors £5.00; Students £2.00

Membership Applications to Christchurch History Society and The General Data Protection Regulation 2018

When applying for Membership of The Christchurch History Society with the Membership Application Form, Pending Members will be asked to give their consent to all of the data that they provide being held on the submitted Form and on computer for no more than twenty-four months by the Society’s Officers, Membership Secretary and Webmaster   In the case of a Single Member the Consent Box and Signature will be required; In the case of Joint Members the Consent Box and both Member’s Signatures will be required.    Other data will be added to the computer database for the purpose of financial control (Anticipated Subscription, Actual Subscription Paid) to check that the subscriptions paid as recorded on the Membership List agree with the Christchurch History Society Accounts; Verification of Membership when a Registration for the Website is made; at Society Events, in connection with any research enquiries or visits to the Archives; and administration within the Christchurch History Society (i.e. Membership Number, Type of Membership – Single or Joint, Format of Journal Requested, Format of Communications Requested, Distribution Code for hard copy  Quarterly Journal, Distribution Code for hard copy Communications, Notes).   Upon request to The Membership Secretary, Christchurch History Society, The Porch Room, Priory House, Quay Road, Christchurch, Dorset, BH23 1BX a Member can view the data held or request that the data be removed. The data will be used only for processing the stated purposes.   The personal data provided on the Form will not be disclosed to any other person(s) or any third party organisations.
