The Unfortunate Captain Peirce

A talk by Philip Browne, a local historian who has extensively researched the story of Richard Peirce, Captain of The Halsewell. This was a trading ship of the East India Company until it foundered on the rocks off Winspit Point in 1786. At the time is was loaded with cargo bound for India and carrying passengers including members of his own family.
